Snow Banks Sparkling-Wine Cocktail

In this simple sparkling wine cocktail, lemon juice and simple syrup make a tart-and-sweet bubbly drink.

Ingredients

Simple Syrup

  • 1cup sugar
  • 1cup water

Cocktail

  • 1/2ounce simple Syrup
  • 1/2ounce fresh squeezed lemon juice
  • 4ounces chilled sparkling wine, such as Prosecco
  • Lemon twist for garnish

Instructions

  1. To prepare simple syrup: Bring sugar and water to a boil in a medium saucepan, stirring frequently to dissolve the sugar. Let cool for 30 minutes and then refrigerate until cold, at least 1 hour. Makes about 1 1/2 cups.
  2. To prepare an individual cocktail: Combine 1/2 ounce of the simple syrup and lemon juice in a champagne flute. Top with sparkling wine and garnish with a lemon twist.

Tips

Cover and refrigerate the Simple Syrup (Step 1) for up to 6 months.
