Bill and Theresa Smith operate the Grocery Outlet located in Woodburn, Oregon. Bill has been working in the grocery business since he was 18. After a long career at Safeway, he left. Bill heard about Grocery Outlet and thought it would be his best chance to work in the field he loves with the person he loves the most, his wife Theresa. The couple began training in 2006 and operated their first store in Albany, Oregon for two years. In 2009, the couple took over the Woodburn store.

With the help of their son who works in the store with them, Bill and Theresa run a true “mom and pop” store, and provide great prices on trusted brand names to the people of Woodburn. Bill and Theresa also love being able to contribute to their community. They are a huge supporter of the local school system, donating snacks and money for activities; the senior citizens, offering senior day monthly in their store; and the Feed-a-Family program. Bill and Theresa also enjoy personally participating in community activities: they are both members of the Chamber of Commerce and personally attend events the group supports.

Bill and Theresa truly love their customers. They’ve been known to buy a customer’s groceries if they know the person is going through a rough time. It is opportunities like this that remind Bill and Theresa how grateful they are to be able to make a difference in so many people’s lives. To the city of Woodburn the couple would like to say, “Our door is always open so come check us out!”
