Say hello to Verla Braun, the operator of the Grocery Outlet located in Tracy, California. Verla learned about Grocery Outlet from the cousin of a friend who operated a store in Washington State. She went to go work for the store in 1982, starting as a checker in hopes of one day working at Grocery Outlet’s corporate office. After several years, Verla managed both the Redwood City and Berkeley Grocery Outlets. In 2002, Verla became the operator in Tracy and has been here ever since.
Verla is happy to help everyday. She loves operating her own store because she likes to serve her customers, the community and her employees. She devotes herself to running a clean, friendly store that focuses on the shopper. Every month, she participates in the “Win What You Save” drawing where customers have the opportunity to win the amount they saved from shopping her store. The winners are deserving families and Verla is pleased to help them. Verla also supports seniors the first and second Tuesday of every month with her senior discount.
One of Verla’s favorite memories is of a shopping spree she held in her store. Customers entered in a drawing to participate in the spree, and the winner was a very special shopper who donated everything she got during the shopping spree to a local food bank. Verla is still moved by that woman’s generosity. It is moments like this that make Verla so appreciative of the opportunity she has to be a part of such wonderful people’s lives.
The Tracy Grocery Outlet is clean, friendly and offers great products at amazing prices. The store is also recently remodeled and looks even better than it did before. Verla would like to thank all of her customers for allowing her to serve them since she started with the company. To all the bargain hunters that have not checked out Verla’s store she would like to say, “Come in and say hi! I would love to meet you and offer you the best deals in town.”
