Larry Brown, the operator of the Grocery Outlet located in Lynnwood, Washington has been working with the company since 1988 when he was a sophomore in high school! At the time, Larry's baseball coach took it upon himself to help his players get employed. He told Larry to apply at the South Tacoma Grocery Outlet and soon enough, he was hired on. He continued working with Grocery Outlet through college while he studied to become a teacher. By the time he had finished school, Larry realized he wanted to operate a store of his own, so after training, he took over the store in Kent, Washington. Then in January of 2005, he took the Lynnwood Grocery Outlet.

Larry loves the simple aspects of his job: the customers and making sure the store provides shoppers with the best quality products at the best prices. His store has grown to be an extension of himself. He and his employees, whom he views as family, do their best to provide outstanding customer service to every customer. Larry also contributes what he can to the Lynnwood community. He donates to the surrounding food banks which provide for the less fortunate. He also works with local businesses and organizations to sponsor youth education and sports.

One of Larry’s favorite memories is from when he first opened the store. At the grand opening the store raffled off a car to a customer. This was not only exciting for the winner but also for Larry because he was able to get a preview of what a positive impact his store was going to have on the community. Larry has loved operating his Grocery Outlet thus far and promises to keep his store operating with the family feel his customers have grown accustomed to.
