Welcome Darrell and Barbara Salkeld, the operators of the Grocery Outlet located in Hemet, California. After a friend directed the couple to the company, Darrell and Barbara started training in 2007. Eight months later they were named owners of the Hemet Grocery Outlet and have been operating there since.

Darrell and Barbara love the independence that comes with owning their own business. They agree that it allows them to get to know their customers on a personal level. Darrell and Barbara give to their community in many ways. They are active in the scrip program with the churches in town, make monthly donations to the community pantry, and sponsor numerous non-profit organizations. They, and their son and daughter who work for them in the store, know many shoppers on a first-name basis. One Senior Day, Darrell was pleased to see his son approach an older gentleman, greet him by his first name, and speak with him as though they had been long-time friends.

The family is devoted to maintaining the personal interaction between the employees and the customers. They love serving and contributing to the community. Darrell and Barbara would like to say they “really appreciate customers who have come to Grocery Outlet to shop and promise to keep it the neighborhood store the community has come to know and love.”
