Say hello to Tarek and Shawndra Salma, operators of the Grocery Outlet located in Fairfield, California! Tarek and Shawndra have been working with Grocery Outlet since 1989. Both of them started out as employees in Vacaville, California while attending junior college. After falling in love and getting married, the couple worked their way up to be owners of the store in Vacaville. They operated the Pleasant Hill store for a while, then in 2008, took the store in Fairfield.

Tarek and Shawndra's mission statement is "Everyone that comes in contact with us should be better off because of it."  They donate to numerous local charities including the Italian-American Charity Club, the Pal Program, Mission Solano, and the City of Fairfield Matt Garcia Foundation. The couple also values the personal relationship they have made with each and every customer.

Tarek and Shawndra also have a special mission to help disabled citizens.  They assist and extensively train disabled individuals to work in their store, helping them gain life skills, confidence, and dignity.  The Salma's commitment to these people was recognized in 2009 by the Mayor of Fairfield and Solano County, who named their store the "Best Small Business in Solano County" for hiring and fostering a nurturing environment for the employment of persons with disabilities.  Tarek and Shawndra were honored to receive this award and hope to maintain this standard of community involvement for years to come.

The couple works to create the best shopping experience around. Not only do they offer unbeatable prices, they also provide a spotless store with a superb shopping experience.
