Greetings from Pat Backman, the operator of the Grocery Outlet located in Coos Bay, Oregon. Pat started working for Grocery Outlet in Vallejo, California in 1980. There she worked with her brother, sister-in-law, and her parents who owned the store. After growing up in a Grocery Outlet family, she decided that she wanted to become an operator herself. She worked her way into training and afterwards was given ownership of the Grocery Outlet in Vallejo. In 1984, and then moved to open the Coos Bay location in 1988 and has been here ever since...

Pat also loves that she is able to be a part of the Coos Bay community. She currently sponsors three different baseball teams, the Girls & Boys Club, numerous school and church organizations, and the Coos Bay County Fair every year. Pat also truly enjoys knowing and interacting with her customers personally. Pat can remember once when a customer had a medical emergency in her store and one of her workers had to perform CPR on the customer. Her employee actually saved the man’s life! More recently, Pat’s Grocery Outlet was nominated by one of her customers for the Chamber of Commerce Customer Service Award and they won! Pat is committed to her customers and the Coos Bay community.
