Say hello to Matt and Nicole Hennig, the operators of the Grocery Outlet located in Citrus Heights, California. Matt and Nicole both started in the Yuba City Grocery Outlet. Matt worked as a customer service representative and Nicole a cashier. After being referred through Matt’s father, the couple began training to become operators. They took over the store in Citrus Heights in 2008, but have been with the company since 1995.
Matt and Nicole enjoy the freedom of owning their own business. They also love that they are able to work with each other. Together, the couple contributes to their customers’ lives with great bargains, and the community with donations. Their store supports all of the local food banks, the San Juan High School basketball team, and provides all of the food to their daughter’s preschool. They also donate to many nonprofit organizations such as Moms Against Drunk Driving and the Make-a-Wish Foundation.
Matt and Nicole’s favorite memory comes from one of their experiences with the Feed-a-Family program. The couple chose to sponsor an aunt who was raising her brother’s children after her brother and his wife both committed suicide. Matt and Nicole gave the family food, clothes, and a gift card to shop at their store. The aunt and uncle were extremely grateful for the couple’s generosity and Matt and Nicole were grateful they could provide help during a really hard time for the family.
Matt and Nicole love operating their store and enjoy being a part of the Citrus Heights community. They would like to thank everyone for the support and are looking forward to many more years of serving their customers with amazing bargains and even better service.
